Campisi's Restaurants | Plano

Came in and there was also another gentlemen in front of me waiting to be helped. It was not very busy. The two guys working … peaked their head around the corner and then hid behind the wall again to not help us. We stood there for nearly 5 minutes before being helped. Had I not ordered online for pick up.. I would have walked out.

The Campisi name is legendary in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Going to the original Campisi's Egyptian Restaurant on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas is almost a rite of passage. It has remain largely unchanged and you can almost taste the history in every bite, and feel the history that seeps from the walls, almost as if they can talk. As Campisi's has opened satellite locations throughout the community, that history has been the one ingredient missing from the ambiance. This location captures the essence better than any of the other locations I have been to. The history portrayed on the walls in old black and white bigger than life photographs tell the story beautifully. What also is captured well in this location are the food and service. Our server did a very good job and made us feel right at home. Our food was the same delicious Campisi family recipes we have grown to love over the years.

We had great service tonight. Atmosphere was dark and cozy but dated. The food was just average. I really enjoyed the house salad they brought before the meal. It was just iceberg lettuce soaked in Italian dressing with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese. The complimentary bread was a nice touch. It was brought warm with butter packets underneath, which helped soften the butter for easy spreading. But the taste was missing any flavor. My daughter did not like the Linguini, saying it was very bland. The eggplant parm tasted good, but I prefer less fried crust and more eggplant. The side of broccoli was just steamed and had little flavor. The portion size was small for the price. The pizza was classic Campisi’s. As we have started reducing our carbs, we find a preference to their signature thin crust. The sausage on the pizza had a very strong fennel taste, which I found overpowering. Seems to be a favorite for older locals. Nothing was exceptional that would make us want to return. But I’m sure we will order a pizza for take-out at some point.

Campisi’s in Plano never disappoints! We stopped in for a casual dinner and ordered the BBQ Chicken Pizza — crispy thin crust, juicy chicken, just the right kick of BBQ sauce, and topped with red onions and tomatoes. Absolutely delicious! We also tried the bruschetta and wow — super fresh, loaded with tomatoes, garlic, basil, and just the right drizzle of olive oil and balsamic. Paired everything with a glass of red wine and it made for a perfect evening. Great food, great vibes, and friendly service. We’ll definitely be back!

It's not mind blowing, but if you love Italian food, it will be authentic. I'm not crazy about this restaurant, but the food is very unique. I ordered the Veal Scaloppini with Marsala sauce and a meat lovers pizza Togo. The Veal was okay, the breading on it was mushy, but the noodles with the sauce tasted really good. You can definitely taste the wine and because of that it's VERY SWEET. It was way too sweet for me, so I had to dump a lot of salt on it then it tasted good. They have complimentary salads and omg it was SO GOOD. The dressing was amazing, it's a perfect salad. The pizza was the best part, I absolutely loved it, it tastes amazing, the dough is thin crust style, but it's not crunchy, it's soft like regular pizza and tasted amazing, I'm thinking it's sourdough or something. It's not Americanized Italian food, it is authentic, so it may not appeal to everyone, but definitely worth the try. I will come back for the pizza!
